Their Love Story:
We met at a holiday party our freshman year at The University of Iowa. Caitlin’s sorority (Alpha Phi) was at Devin’s fraternity house (Sigma Pi). That night, Devin and his friend, Alex, knocked on Jen’s dorm room door (Caitlin’s sorority sister). Caitlin and Jen were both winding down to sleep as it was late, but Jen opened the door. Caitlin pretended to be asleep as she was in pajamas. Devin put a blanket on her and kissed her forehead. It was the sweetest gesture. Our friendship blossomed from there until we started dating 1.5 years later! Right before Thanksgiving, Devin insisted on decorating the apartment for the Christmas holiday as it is Caitlin’s favorite time of year and Devin’s grandmother was coming into town. We spent the night decorating the tree. Caitlin was suspicious given we never decorate before Thanksgiving and was hoping he was going to pop the question using the tree. Devin waited until the morning, which took Caitlin by surprise. He did in fact use the tree and had had the outer box, which the ring box came in, painted as an ornament. It was a wonderful surprise. We celebrated with Caitlin and Devin’s families after over brunch and dinner.
